Rust Console Update 1.15 Patch Notes: Underground Trains Is Live
Rust Console Edition Update 1.15 is live, landing with the August 27 monthly wipe. This is the full launch of Underground Trains, one of the biggest updates of the year: a subway rail network beneath the island, drivable Workcarts, the new Tunnel Dwellers, and a long list of fixes and community-server additions. Here is the full breakdown.
New Features
- Underground Transit System. Subway entrances are scattered across the world, leading to a vast rail network you can travel through by Workcart.
- Workcarts. Drivable rail vehicles that run on Low Grade Fuel. Control speed and direction with the Left Stick (tap forward to speed up), with reverse and deceleration available.
- Underground Train Signals. Watch the lights: green means the track ahead is clear, yellow means a blockage further down the line, and red means an immediate blockage ahead.
- Tunnel Dwellers. A hostile NPC faction living underground, guarding the loot. You will have to fight through them to move around the network.
Improvements & Adjustments
- New Map UI layer for the underground train system
- Additional loading screens and menu background videos
- Furnace skin preview toggle via the [Y / TRIANGLE] button
- Modular Vehicles no longer collide with harvestable terrain (ore nodes, hemp, etc.)
- Large Cave areas revised to prevent instant player death
- Vending Machines now drop 50% of their contents when destroyed

Community Server Changes
Plenty here for server owners. Update 1.15 adds new spawnable content and admin commands, most of them tied to the new train system.
New spawnable monuments: Entrance Bunker A, B, C, and D.
New spawnable entities: crate_mine, marketplace, marketterminal, polarbear, roof, roof.triangle, shreddable_pickuptruck, snowmobile, submarinesolo.entity, submarineduo.entity, wall, and workcart.entity.
New commands:
traincar.decayminutes "number"— how long train cars last before decayingtraincar.killofftracktrains "0/1"— remove trains that leave the tracktraincar.population "number"— how many train cars spawnvehicle.killtrains— clear all trainsvehicle.trainskeeprunning "0/1"— keep trains running
Two more owner-facing tweaks: kickall now affects queued and joining players too, and the Wallpaper Tool viewmodel is now visible when spectating.

Known Issues
The team has flagged a few known issues to be aware of this wipe:
- High External Walls snapping cannot be disabled
- Players occasionally stuck in terrain from sleeping bags placed at steep angles
- Underwater vehicle mounting can interfere with weapons, and Underwater Labs floor corpses can clip
- Coconut Underwear can occasionally revert or be removed
- Small Sharks and Salmon are currently unavailable for ocean fishing
- Some cave fall-through and underwater projectile accuracy issues
